Tailor

Novel counterpart: Il sarto

Tailor,  token

Ability

Each night, choose a player: if they are an alive neighbour and you chose them the previous night, learn their alignment.

S’ha da far de’ libri in istampa, sopra un fracasso di questa sorte.

The Tailor is a thoughtful judge of those around him. By observing the same neighbour over two consecutive nights, he may finally discern where their loyalties lie.

How to Run

On the first night, wake the Tailor and ask them to choose a player. Place the LAST CHOICE reminder on that player.

On each following night, wake the Tailor and ask them to choose a player.

If the chosen player:

  • is currently alive;
  • is currently a neighbour of the Tailor; and
  • was also chosen by the Tailor on the previous night;

show the Tailor that player's current alignment.

Then move the LAST CHOICE reminder to the player chosen this night.

Examples

On the first night, the Tailor chooses Alice, who is their living neighbour. On the second night, they choose Alice again. Alice is still alive and still their neighbour, so the Tailor learns Alice's alignment.

The Tailor chooses Alice one night and Ben the next. The Tailor learns nothing, even if both are neighbours.

The Tailor chooses Alice on two consecutive nights, but Alice died during the intervening day. The Tailor learns nothing because Alice is not alive when the second choice is made.

The Tailor chooses a good Spreader twice. If the Spreader registers as evil when the Tailor's information resolves, the Tailor may be shown evil.

The Boatman changes the alignment of a player between the Tailor's first and second choices. If the requirements are still satisfied, the Tailor learns the player's current alignment on the second night.

Rules & Clarifications

  • The Tailor must choose the same player on consecutive nights to receive information.
  • The target needs to be an alive neighbour only when the information check occurs on the second choice.
  • Choosing a different player resets the sequence.
  • The Tailor may choose any player, but receives information only if all stated conditions are satisfied.
  • The Tailor learns the target's alignment at the time the ability resolves.
  • Registration as evil may affect the result.
  • Character or alignment changes between the two nights do not invalidate the ability by themselves.
  • If the Tailor fails to wake because of the Henchman, they make no choice that night.
