Ability

Each night*, you may choose a player: if they are healthy, they die, then you lose this ability. [+0 or +1 Outsider]

Modifies setup
Avrei avuto più piacere che l’ordine fosse stato di darle una schioppettata nella schiena.

The Kite circles patiently over its prey, waiting for the right moment to strike. It may stalk its quarry night after night, but only a successful strike brings the hunt to an end.

How to Run

During setup, the Storyteller may add one Outsider to the game ([+0 or +1 Outsider]), replacing a Townsfolk as usual.

Each night except the first, if the Kite still has their ability, wake them and ask whether they wish to use it. They may decline.

If they do, the Kite chooses a player.

If the chosen player is healthy, they die. The Kite loses the ability: mark the Kite as USED.

If the chosen player is not healthy, they do not die and the Kite keeps the ability.

Examples

The Kite chooses a healthy Townsfolk. That player dies, and the Kite cannot use their ability again.

The Kite chooses a player who is poisoned by the Plague. The player does not die. The Kite may try again on a later night.

The Kite chooses an evil player. While the Plague has its ability, evil players always register as poisoned, so the target is not healthy: they survive and the Kite keeps its ability. The Kite can never kill an evil player while the Plague has its ability.

The Doctor cures a poisoned player before a later night. The Kite chooses that player after they have become healthy. They die.

Rules & Clarifications

  • [+0 or +1 Outsider] is a setup modification: the Storyteller may increase the Outsider count by one when the Kite is in play.
  • The ability is only permanently spent when the Kite successfully kills a healthy player.
  • Choosing a non-healthy player does not waste the ability, and the Kite may also choose nobody at all.
  • A poisoned player normally still wakes and acts at night; poison protects against the Kite's healthy-player kill but does not itself prevent waking.
  • Because the Kite acts after the Plague, a player poisoned by the Plague earlier that same night may no longer be a valid healthy victim for the Kite.
  • Registration affects whether a player is treated as healthy for this ability: evil players always register as poisoned while the Plague has its ability, and are therefore never valid victims; the Spreader may register as poisoned at the Storyteller's discretion.
