Ability

You start knowing an in-play character and how many of their neighbours are evil. [+0 or +1 Outsider]

Modifies setup
La sventurata rispose.

The Nun lives behind convent walls, yet knows how close corruption lies. They know of one character who walks the town and how many evil souls surround them; their troubled presence may also draw an Outsider into the game.

How to Run

During setup, the Storyteller may add one Outsider to the bag ([+0 or +1 Outsider]), removing a Townsfolk as usual.

On the first night, wake the Nun.

Show the Nun one character that is currently in play.

Then show a number indicating how many of the player holding that character's neighbours are evil.

If more than one player has the shown character, secretly choose one of those players as the reference and count that player's neighbours. Do not tell the Nun which copy was used.

Put the Nun to sleep.

Use the actual neighbour relationships that exist when the information is given, including any effects that alter the normal seating topology.

Examples

The Storyteller shows the Nun the Doctor. The Doctor is in play and has one evil neighbour, so the Storyteller shows 1.

The Storyteller shows the Bride. Both of the Bride's neighbours are good, so the Nun learns 0.

The shown character is held by a player with two evil neighbours. The Nun learns 2.

There are two Henchmen in play. The Storyteller shows the Nun the Henchman character and secretly chooses one of the two Henchman players as the reference. That player's neighbours include one evil player, so the Nun learns 1. The Nun does not learn which Henchman was used.

A good Spreader may register as evil. This may affect the number received by the Nun according to the Spreader's registration ability.

Rules & Clarifications

  • The shown character must actually be in play when the information is given, unless the Nun is receiving false information because their ability is malfunctioning.
  • The Nun learns the character, but is not shown which player has that character.
  • If more than one player has the shown character, the Storyteller chooses one of them as the reference. The Nun is not told which copy was used.
  • The number refers to the neighbours of the chosen player who currently holds the shown character.
  • Only those neighbours' alignments matter; their character types do not.
  • A neighbour who registers as evil may affect the result of the Nun's ability.
  • If the relevant character later moves or neighbouring alignments later change, the Nun does not receive updated information.
