Ability

Each night*, choose a player different from last night: learn if they are poisoned; if so, they become sober and healthy. 1 good player registers as poisoned to you.

Modifies setup
Niente senza il parere del medico. Son mali bisbetici: non c’è tempo da perdere.

The Doctor can identify and cure the disease, but cannot examine the same patient on consecutive nights. A patient cured of the plague leaves the visit fully restored.

How to Run

During setup, choose 1 good player and mark them SYMPTOMATIC. That player registers as poisoned to the Doctor.

Each night except the first, wake the Doctor.

The Doctor chooses a player different from the player they chose on the previous night.

Indicate whether that player registers as poisoned to the Doctor.

If the chosen player is actually poisoned, make them sober and healthy.

Place the LAST CHOICE reminder on the chosen player, replacing the previous reminder.

Examples

The Doctor chooses a poisoned Townsfolk. The Storyteller indicates that the player is poisoned, then makes them healthy.

The Doctor chooses a healthy player. The Storyteller indicates that they are not poisoned. Nothing else happens.

The Doctor chooses the healthy good player marked SYMPTOMATIC. The Storyteller indicates that they are poisoned. Since they are not actually poisoned, there is no poisoned state to remove.

The Doctor cures a player who had previously been poisoned by the Plague. The Plague is not informed that the player becomes healthy.

The Doctor chooses an evil Minion who is not actually poisoned but registers as poisoned because of the Plague. The Storyteller indicates that the Minion is poisoned. This does not create an actual poisoned state to remove.

The Doctor chooses the Spreader. The Spreader may register as poisoned even while actually healthy.

The Doctor cures a player after the Plague has acted. That player is healthy for the Bride and Cardinal later that same night, and for the Plague's choice on a later night.

Rules & Clarifications

  • During setup, the Storyteller chooses 1 good player and marks them SYMPTOMATIC.
  • The player marked SYMPTOMATIC registers as poisoned to the Doctor, even while actually healthy.
  • SYMPTOMATIC does not actually poison the player and does not affect any ability other than the Doctor's.
  • The Doctor cannot choose the same player on consecutive nights.
  • On the Doctor's first use, there is no previous-night restriction.
  • The Doctor learns whether the chosen player is poisoned according to how that player registers to the Doctor's ability.
  • If the player is actually poisoned, the Doctor makes them sober and healthy: the cure also removes drunkenness.
  • A player who merely registers as poisoned does not have an actual poisoned state to remove.
  • A player who is drunk but not poisoned is not cured of anything: the sober effect rides on the poison cure and never fires alone.
  • Curing a player does not notify the Plague.
  • The Plague acts before the Doctor; a cure therefore cannot affect the Plague's choice earlier that same night, but does affect later information and future choices.
  • The Doctor acts before the Bride and Cardinal, so a successful cure may affect both of their information that same night.
  • If the Doctor is drunk or poisoned, they still wake and choose, but their information may be false and their attempted cure has no effect.
